Download and Installation Instructions for WinEcon Student Pack

  • Please read everything below carefully - we have tried to give as much help here as possible as this package does not come with any after sales support.
  • If you follow the instructions and tips below you should have no problems, but if your software does not download and install correctly please see Downloading and Installation FAQs for further advice. You can retry downloading and installing if necessary and you can and should test run the software before licensing.

Follow carefully and complete the three steps below to download and install the WinEcon Student Pack software.

Tip: You will not be able to transfer or copy your software successfully after it is licensed so make sure your software is installed on the machine you are going to use it on BEFORE you licence it. You can copy the software onto another machine before licensing it, but you can only licence one copy.

Step 1 - Download the software

Download this file, winecon716.exe (27.4MB), to a temporary location on your hard disk. If the browser asks whether to Save or to Open or Run the file, choose Save and pick a folder to save the file into.

Tip: You may want to check the properties of the file and look at the file size to make sure you have downloaded the complete file. If you have not downloaded the complete file the software will not install correctly so try downloading again. You can download the file as many times as you want.

Step 2 - Install the software

If you are installing WinEcon to a securely configured Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista machine then you will now need to log in as Administrator before attempting to install WinEcon.

Once the download is complete, click Run to start the installer or use "Windows Explorer" or "My Computer" to locate the winecon716.exe file that you downloaded in step 1 and double-click on it to start the installer. Note that on many Windows systems, the ".exe" part of the file name will not be shown - so the file will appear to be called just "winecon716" and not "winecon716.exe". Then follow the on-screen instructions. Click "Next" unless you wish to change the default settings. Click "Finish" .

Your software should now be installed. Please check that the software is correctly installed by starting up and running WinEcon. It is important that you do this before it is licensed.

Tip: Try out your software as soon as it is installed and BEFORE you licence it. Your software will work in sampler mode for 7 days after which it will need to be licensed. You can only collect your licence once so do not get your licence code until you know your software is working as you MUST apply your licence as soon as it is collected.

Step 3 - Run your WinEcon software

To start up WinEcon double click on the WinEcon icon (or locate WinEcon from the Start Programs menu). The software will start up in sampler mode and can be used fully in this mode for 7 days.

Click on the course you wish to use. All courses are accessible in sampler mode. Once the licence is applied only the courses included in the licence will be available. The software will shut down after 7 days unless you apply your licence code. However, the software can be licensed at any time, even after the 7 day sampler period has expired. If the software has shut down, it will be re-activated once it is licensed.

Tip: Do not collect your licence using your Personal Password until you are ready to apply it. Remember, once you have collected your licence code you MUST apply it to WinEcon immediately. Your Personal Password can only be used once.

Licensing your WinEcon Student Pack software

DO NOT licence your software until you are sure it has installed successfully and is running correctly. Under the Terms and Conditions for the specially priced WinEcon Student Pack software no techincal or after sales support is available and Personal Passwords and licence codes WILL NOT be re-issued. If you fail to licence your software correctly or need to re-install your software and re-licence your software for whatever reason, you will need to purchase a new licence.

DO NOT licence your software until it is installed on the machine you are going to use the software on. You will not be able to transfer, copy or re-install your software successfully once it is licensed. Remember, you can only use your licence once and it will not be re-issued.

Tip: If you can not download the software on the machine you want to use it on, you can copy/transfer the downloaded software across from another machine or memory pen, etc. Just make sure you do not licence the software until it is installed on the machine you want to use it on.
